The Vita Education Services Scholarship Awards Committee is pleased to announce that it has chosen the first three recipients of GED scholarships.
Vita’s GED Scholarship Fund was established to help students with a proven record of achievement in Vita’s GED preparation classes pay for the GED test. In choosing recipients, the committee considers criteria including attendance, practice test scores, economic circumstances, students’ personal statements in support of their application, and teacher recommendations.
Scholarships have been awarded to Hiam Darwich, Bensalem; Roberta Kirkham, Morrisville; and Jessica Hall, Bristol.
Vita’s GED preparation classes are offered at no cost to students through grants from the PA Departments of Education’s Division of Adult Education. Students depend on the GED exam to open career doors for them or to advance to post-secondary education. For some of these students, regardless of determination and desire, the GED testing fees are more than they can afford.
Realizing this need, Vita reached out to area businesses to help support the fund and partner with Vita toward the betterment of adult learners, our workforce, and our community. Supporters of the fund include Irene’s Bakery and Gourmet Kitchen, Luccaro’s at Hollyhedge, Micro Solutions Plus, New Age Industries, Provident Marketing, Maryjane and Jerry McHugh, Tom and Patti Thomas, and Sara Webster, Esq.,
